Hollard deploys event response team to North Queensland

06 Feb 2025

Following the severe weather and flooding in North and Far North Queensland, Hollard has deployed its Event and Recovery Team (HEART) to help support customers face-to-face.

The team will be on the ground to help customers lodge claims, arrange make-safe repairs and temporary accommodation, and access other support services.

“Our thoughts are with those in the impacted communities of North and Far North Queensland,” said Paige Vincent, Chief Operations Officer at Hollard. “Our team will be there in person to assist our customers, during what can be an incredibly stressful time, to help make the claims process as smooth as possible.”

“The safety of our customers and communities is paramount - we encourage everyone in affected areas to remain alert and follow emergency warnings and advice, and only lodge a claim once you’re safe.”

Key actions after a flood event:

  • Stay away from dangerous hazards, such as fallen powerlines, damaged roads, and floodwaters.
  • Leave your electricity and gas mains turned off until advised otherwise by your utility company or emergency service.
  • Check your property for damage. If you have damaged property you'll be claiming for, take photos/videos and/or keep a record of model numbers. Keep a sample of any damaged flooring to help identify an appropriate replacement (where covered).
  • Don't turn on electrical items that have been submerged in water or affected by water in any way.
  • Check your State Emergency Service (SES) or local broadcast for updates and additional safety recommendations.
